Memories of Old Delhi

Where: Hove, near the seafront. Address will be revealed after booking

When 8 April 2017, 19.30-22.30

Join me on a trip down memory lane with dishes that will bring to life a sense of the hustle and bustle of Old Delhi. You will experience food that has influences of Persian food, brought to India by the Moghuls and refined with spices that are found on the Indian sub-continent. We start with classic streetfoods followed by a sumptuous main course with different flavours and spices. The meal will end with a decadent dessert.

A great way to start Spring!

Paneer Tikka and Onion Pakodas

Marinated and grilled Indian cheese with mint and coriander chutney. Light and crisp onion pakoras in a gram flour batter (very different to onion bhajis)

Goat Korma

Cooked in the iconic style of the restaurants of Old Delhi – cooked in several stages to acheive the perfect layering of flavours – frying the meat in spices, onion, garlic and ginger until the ghee separates and then adding back moisture with yoghurt. The fragrance of the dish is enhanced with Kewra or screwpine which is a mark of many authentic Mughlai preparations

Baingan Ka Bharta

Flame roasted aubergines mashed and cooked with tomato, green chilli, coriander and onion

Beetroot Raita

A striking pink raita made of beeroots and yoghurt

Lachha Parantha

Layered Indian flat bread

Chawal Ki Kheer

Slow cooked rice pudding with cardamom and saffron
